How We Make It (And Why It Matters)
This is what it looks like when design meets values.
At Modern Vintage Living, we believe how something’s made matters just as much as how it looks. Because beautiful design should never come at the cost of the planet—or your peace of mind.
We don’t do fast, disposable, or faceless.
We do thoughtful. Local. Purpose-led.
And it starts with the materials, the makers, and the way we show up at every stage.
Low-VOC Paint, Made the Right Way
Our paints are made in small batches by a historic UK manufacturer who’s been perfecting their craft for over 120 years. We work closely with their colour and pigment expert and lead chemist to refine every formula—ensuring low-VOC content, exceptional coverage, and finishes that perform beautifully in real homes.
This means fewer emissions in your space, safer air quality, and a more mindful way to paint.
Print, Paper & Packaging—With Purpose
Our art prints and découpage papers? We print those in-house using two of the industry’s most sustainable machines from HP and Xerox . They’re known for energy efficiency, waste-reducing tech, and precision that lets us create stunning results without overproduction.
We mostly, only print to order—so there’s no bulk printing, no warehouses full of stock, and no pressure to over-consume. Each print is hand-rolled and carefully packed in recycled cardboard tubes, and our cello bags are made by a UK manufacturer who shares our values.
Slow Matters
We make our paint colour cards by hand. We roll every sheet of paper ourselves. We choose FSC-certified papers wherever possible. And we keep our packaging simple, recyclable, and minimal—because what protects your product shouldn’t harm the planet.
Sustainability isn’t a marketing line for us.
It’s just how we do things.
Consciously. Carefully. And with complete transparency.
Because in a world of mass-produced everything, choosing to slow down and do it well?
That’s modern. That’s meaningful. And that’s what we’re here for.
